Do you want to learn more about physics? Do you want to challenge your understanding of physics? Then join Physics Olympiad Club every Friday from 11:30 – 12:00! We prepare for the F=ma and USAPhO exams in addition to covering AP Physics 1 course material.
The F=ma exam is the first tier of the USA Physics Olympiad, a nationwide physics competition for high school students. It is a 75-minute long multiple choice exam with 25 questions. Topics covered include kinematics, statics, Newton’s laws, momentum and energy, oscillations, orbital mechanics, fluids, and elementary data analysis. Your score is purely the number of questions you get correct, and the top 400 scorers in the nation advance to the prestigious USA Physics Olympiad!
While this might sound totally out of your range, don’t worry! Here at Physics Olympiad Club, we work together to learn and master the basic concepts necessary to succeed on the F=ma. Throughout the year, we host student-led seminars which consist of one important concept lecture and then a group problem-solving session afterwards. Anybody can drop in and learn a ton, whether you’re a total beginner or an expert! In fact, the usual cutoff for the USAPhO is a mere 15/25 on the F=ma! With a little bit of grinding, you can definitely succeed.
